Overview

A kind and welcoming German family on the Upper West Side is seeking a warm, proactive part-time nanny to care for their two young children(1 yr old, 5 yr old). This is a live-out position ideal for a candidate who thrives in active, respectful homes that value outdoor play, self-sufficiency, and hands-on learning. While German-speaking is a plus, it is not a requirement.

The family maintains a screen-free environment and follows a parenting style rooted in respect and independence. They’re seeking someone aligned with these values—an engaging caregiver who brings energy, warmth, and a love of nature to their children’s daily lives.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00/7:00 PM
  • 25 hours guaranteed
  • Flexibility for occasional sick days and irregular school closings is appreciated
  • Travel availability is a plus

 

Responsibilities

  • School pickups (all schools are within walking distance on the UWS)
  • Escorting children to after-school activities on the Upper East Side via public transportation
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks, including school lunches
  • Keeping children’s spaces and shared areas neat and organized
  • Planning creative, screen-free activities such as:
  • Walks and outdoor play
  • Arts & crafts, imaginative games, and age-appropriate enrichment
  • Supporting independent skills and daily routines
  • Helping with basic K-grade homework
  • Light household tasks:
  • Loading/unloading dishwasher, clearing dishes
  • Occasional light sweeping or vacuuming of common areas
  • Cleaning baby bottles and assisting with grocery/child supply lists
  • Occasional short domestic or international travel

Qualifications

  • Energetic, outdoorsy, and confident managing two children
  • Strong cooking skills with a focus on healthy meals
  • Comfortable using public transit in NYC
  • German-speaking preferred but not required
  • Driving is a plus, not a requirement
  • Familiarity with Montessori or willingness to learn

 

Requirements

  • Legal to work in the U.S.
  • Passport holder and travel-ready
  • CPR and First-aid certified and up to date
  • Experience with similarly aged children
  • Must be comfortable around water (pool, beach, etc.); strong swimmer preferred
  • Fully up to date on vaccinations (COVID, Tdap, flu, etc.)

 

Salary and Benefits

  • $35–$40/hour gross on payroll, depending on experience
  • Guaranteed 25 hours/week(with 40 hrs/week during travel w/ family)
