Overview

A wonderful family of 3, soon to be 4, based in Miami is seeking a live-out Norland style nanny for their energetic 2-year-old daughter and baby due early September. They are looking for a nanny who can work a very flexible schedule, typically Monday through Friday, with 9-hour days, and sometimes weekends. The nanny will be able to pool extra days worked to take extended vacations (5+ weeks at a time) twice a year. A very comfortable separate apartment is provided close by.

The parents are very hands-on, family orientated, and like to be as involved as possible in their children's life. Mom can work from home and has a flexible schedule, so there will often be occasions where you will be working together as a team.

This is a travel heavy role with the family frequently traveling to their homes in other states, including Connecticut, New York, and Georgia. The family spends much of the Summer out west in Colorado and Montana. Separate accommodation will be provided for the candidate when traveling.

The family don't have any pets but the grandparents, who live close by in Palm Beach, have two hypoallergenic dogs. So, the candidate should be comfortable with this.

The ideal start date would be August to ensure a smooth handover with their current nanny.

Responsibilities

  • Job responsibilities include the care and engagement of their daughter. This includes, but is not limited to, engaging her in developmentally appropriate play and activities, and making suggestions about toys and classes to further her development and reach educational milestones
  • The family has a full-time housekeeper and chef, so preparing meals will not be required, but the candidate should have a pitch in attitude when needed and assist with the children's laundry, and cooking simple meals like breakfast and snacks
  • Packing and planning for travel
  • Organizing and tracking various child set-ups in different households, ensuring there are clothes, cribs, pacifiers, bottles, etc. in other households including Georgia, Connecticut, Florida, etc.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a Norland graduate, but the family is open to considering candidates without that qualification if they have similar training and education
  • The family would like someone who sees working with children as a career
  • The family prefers not to expose their children to screens and television at this point, and is looking for a nanny who enjoys nature and is very energetic, imaginative and active
  • The ideal candidate must be a "yes" person and a team player who is able to work with many other team members as they will be coordinating with staff across multiple properties

Requirements

  • A confident swimmer
  • A driver with a clean licence
  • To drive their daughter to activities and classes when needed
  • The candidate should be travel-ready
  • The candidate should be well-versed in infant and toddler development
  • Be professional, flexible, nurturing, and maternal
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated
  • Be easy going, and work as a team with other household staff members (essential)

Salary and Benefits

  • $78,000 USD per annum salary, negotiable depending on years of experience and qualifications
  • The family would be happy to provide a visa for the right candidate
  • Health insurance
  • 2 weeks PTO (at least, but as mentioned above, they prefer candidates who will bank days and take extended vacations twice a year)
