Overview

A kind and travel-loving family of three in West Vancouver, BC (Canada) is seeking a full-time live-out nanny to join their family beginning in June to take over after their doula leaves. The nanny will care for one infant who will be 4-months-old when the position begins. This fun and worldly family is looking for a very special person to join their family long-term and be a part of their child's life in a meaningful way. The schedule for this role will be flexible but will generally be 5 days per week of full coverage, guaranteeing 50 hours per week. The schedule will likely change as the baby gets older and becomes more set.

Responsibilities

  • Full infant care: Providing a warm and loving environment, care and engagement of the baby including enrichment in age-appropriate activities that foster physical, social, and emotional growth both in and out of the home, coordinating schedules for naps and meals, activities, and travel
  • Eventual transportation to activities, play dates, and outings
  • Preparing, washing, and sanitizing bottles and other baby items, helping with the child’s laundry, and with light meal preparation and cooking
  • Nursery duties including: managing the tidiness and organization of the child's spaces, restocking baby items, packing and unpacking for trips, and child-related laundry (there is a deep cleaning team twice a week)

Qualifications

  • Active, attentive and experienced when it comes to child development, knowing ages and stages, and best practices
  • Recent training with more modern approaches and must be okay with sleep training
  • A collaborative approach to childcare: able to balance between taking initiative and helping new parents with relevant guidance while also deferring to parents and taking direction
  • Worldly view: excited about new cultures, music, and travel. A foodie at heart who will encourage the child’s palate as well
  • Social and happy to be on the go, this family has a great group of friends with children and enjoy hosting so coordinating play dates and being comfortable with that kind of social lifestyle will be key
  • The parents are active and involved, so you must know when to fade in and out of the background while staying busy
  • A sense of humor and “big kid at heart” mentality will fit well in this family
  • Bilingual in French or Spanish would be nice to have but not required

Requirements

  • Canadian citizen, permanent residence, or valid long-term visa, i.e. not in need of sponsorship and legally able to work in Canada; MUST be local to Vancouver already
  • CPR and first aid certification or willing to certify
  • Willing and excited to travel with the family: approximately 2 months in Australia over Christmas/New Year, 3-4 weeks in Europe over the summer, and then shorter trips to Whistler and California
  • Must love cats and not have a cat allergy
  • Confident swimmer and comfortable supervising children in the water (ocean and pools)
  • The ideal candidate will be outdoorsy and active and happy to spend time outside in nature with the child exploring during all four seasons
  • Willing to receive vaccinations including those needed for travel
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Criminal Record Check
