Overview

A lovely family located in the Upper West Side of NYC, NY is seeking a part-time nanny to help care for their 1-year-old daughter.  The position will start mid-February. During the main part of the year, the general daily schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday, 6 hours per day, roughly 1/2pm-7/8pm, with a guarantee of 30 hours per week. During the Summer or holiday breaks, the position can be Monday-Friday if the candidate prefers. This is a warm and loving family looking to find an engaging nanny who can keep up with their toddler and communicate with the parents to help ensure her enrichment and happiness.

Responsibilities

  • Overall care of the 1-year-old
  • Helping maintain and create routines and day-to-day schedule and nap routine
  • Engaging and playing with their daughter - read stories, play, do puzzles, come up with age appropriate activities and outings
  • Take her to music and gymnastics classes when mom is unable to do so
  • Take her on walks in the stroller
  • Light child-related housekeeping - child's laundry, cleaning her bottles, and making sure her toys are cleaned up at the end of the day
  • Organizing, take the initiative and help organize toys, closet (mom is open to new ideas and help!)
  • Prepare snacks and meals for the baby and help mom build menus for her
  • Keeping stock of child inventory - diapers, wipes, baby supplies, etc, helping replenish supplies when possible

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude
  • Energetic and flexible - open to schedule changes, following baby's cues,
  • Friendly - make friends for playdates
  • Attentive - She thrives on attention and engagement, someone who can play with her and give her the one on one that she needs

Requirements

  • Comfortable walking to gym class 12 blocks away, relatively mobile, take to parks in the summer, etc
  • Comfortable with pets in the home - the family has a dog and a cat
  • Child Development knowledge - know the next steps developmentally and help keep track of milestones and development
  • Experienced - parents are open to feedback from nanny and suggestions but must still be respectful of parents directions,
  • Respectful, collaborative
  • Open communication
  • Infant/child CPR and First-Aid certified, or willing to certify 
  • Legal to work in the US

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly rate is $35-$40, based on experience
  • Standard benefits of vacation days, sick days, and holidays offered, prorated to part-time
