Overview

A loving family of four on the Upper East Side is seeking a temporary full-time, live-out nanny to cover while their nanny of 8 years is away for 6 months. This role is providing care for their two daughters, ages 8 and 2 years old. The position will begin no later than March 31st, with ideally some overlap with their current nanny before she leaves. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30am- 7pm or so. The start time is set but there is some wiggle room on end time, with the average week being 50-53 hours. Their parenting philosophy includes having boundaries, being respectful, and taking time to explain the why (or why not!) to the children.

Responsibilities

  • Full childcare of both girls; the older child is in full-day school so the majority of the day will be with the 2-year-old (taking her to the park or on walks, playing at home, finding local activities to do)
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks
  • Helping them getting to/from school (parents usually do school drop off on their way to work but nanny will need to do pick-up), after-school activities, play-dates, helping with homework, etc.
  • Nap, dinner, and bedtime routines
  • General tidying up including play areas, children’s bedrooms, and common areas such as the kitchen

Qualifications

  • Comfortable being full-charge as both parents work away from the home
  • Excellent communicator and happy to keep parents in the loop during the day
  • Mandarin speaking would be nice to have but not required

Requirements

  • Safety conscious and street smart, especially with an active 2-year-old who likes to climb and explore
  • Comfortable with a small dog in the home who will need very minimal care but is there during the days
  • Proven experience in similar full-charge roles with toddler and school age children
  • Already local to the New York City area; this position is not offering relocation or housing
  • Able to legally work in the US

Salary and Benefits

$30-35 per hour plus applicable overtime (minimum 10 hours of OT each week)
Must be okay being on payroll
