Overview

First-time hands-on parents in Santa Monica are seeking a wonderfully developmentally-minded full-time live-out nanny for their newborn son born late November 2024. The schedule will be Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. The Father works from home and the Mother works in an office outside of the home. The role begins March 8th or 9th as the Mother goes back to work the following week and will want to train the nanny the week prior.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring baby's safety, health, and happiness at all times
  • Overseeing the developmental milestones for the baby; actively nurturing and engaging the child in educational, developmental, and fun age-appropriate activities that encourage his physical and mental growth
  • Reading to the baby
  • Supporting the achievement of age-appropriate milestones (e.g. tummy time, mealtime, potty training, learning to read, walking, etc)
  • Eventually taking the child to classes, the park, on walks, arranging playdates, and indoor & outdoor play at parent's discretion
  • Diaper changes
  • Maintaining the child’s nap, eating, and play schedules
  • Child’s laundry
  • Feeding, meal preparation, and cooking for the child
  • Notifying parents when child-related items need to be restocked, clothes are too small, etc.
  • Keeping the home's main spaces and the child’s room clean and tidy (putting away/wiping down toys, cleaning bottles, dishes, and the kitchen after meal-time, tidying his room, emptying diaper pail, doing baby's laundry, changing baby's sheets, keeping the stroller/diaper bag organized and well-stocked)
  • Traveling with the family to one of their homes in the Bay Area or Central Valley for 1+ weekends/month (ideally they will give two weeks' notice when travel is to take place). When working over a weekend while traveling, nanny can have time off during the week to make up for it.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education and/or Childhood Development degree(s) and/or certificate(s)
  • Light household tasks (load/unload the dishwasher and/or putting away laundry would be a bonus–they have a housekeeper who comes once a week)

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable around dogs as they have goldendoodles at their homes in the Bay Area and Central Valley
  • Eventually driving the baby around so the candidate to hire must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record

Salary and Benefits

  • $35-40/hour depending on experience
  • $200 monthly healthcare stipend
  • 2 weeks' vacation
  • 5 paid sick days
  • The following holidays off and paid:
    • New Year's Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving Day
    • Christmas Day
  • Candidate will have own room/bathroom in the SF house and will have a hotel room when they are at the Central Valley house. Overnight travel rate will be provided, amount TBD but likely $75-100 per overnight when traveling.
