A kind, down-to-earth family based in Los Angeles (with additional properties in the US and Hawaii) is seeking a governess/educator to assist with cultivating their two home-schooled children, aged 9 and 14, as they embark on a worldwide adventure. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, as the family intends to be nomadic for a period of at least 12 months from February 2025, traveling all over the world, from the East Coast to the Bahamas, all over Europe, and various other destinations. Candidates should be comfortable onboard a yacht for months at a time, although this will of course dock at numerous locations, and the family will do a great deal of land-based exploration as well - especially in Europe. The itinerary is going to be quite fluid, so candidates should be flexible and excited by the prospect of living a more impromptu existence - i.e. if the thought of not having a fixed itinerary makes you anxious, this is not the job for you.
Candidates will have plenty of time throughout the year to return home and see family, and they will not be required to work weekends, so they may use this time to explore on their own terms.
Mom and Dad are both self-employed and have therefore been able to invest a considerable amount of time in fostering their children’s education. As such, they are very attuned to their children’s strengths and weaknesses.
This is a very positive, nurturing family, and they are looking for someone who is light-hearted, open-minded, and a proponent of cohesion and harmony. Candidates must be emotionally centered, with a high EQ. You will be spending a vast amount of time with the family, sometimes in a confined space (such as on their yacht), so candidates should have solid professional boundaries and be able to navigate conflict resolution with grace, humility, and professionalism.
Candidates with a UK/ European passport are welcome to apply because the family will only be spending the next 3 months in the US, and the rest of the time they will be traveling, and much of this time will be spent in Europe.
