Overview

A family in Montecito, CA (Santa Barbara County) is seeking a full-time live-on property executive housekeeper/family assistant that is like the heart of the home; the family does have a cleaning crew that comes 1x/week to do the deep cleaning. The proposed schedule is 6 days per week 7am-1pm and 3pm-7pm for 60 hours (preferred) or 5 days a week 7am-1pm and 3pm-7pm for 50 hours. The days of the week would ideally be Saturday-Thursday and having Friday off for the 6 days a week role; or Monday-Thursday and having off Friday and Sunday weekly; or they will consider an alternative schedule in which the candidates has 2 consecutive days off per week. The family is comprised of two parents, a 7-year-old daughter, and three dogs. This position is the heart of the home and is an important role to the household to ensure that the home is always guest ready and running smoothly. 

Responsibilities

  • Morning coffee and healthy breakfast preparation
  • Preparing snacks
  • Assist in the kitchen with food preparation
  • Assist with feeding the dogs
  • Assist with taking the dogs outside throughout the day
  • Daily upkeep of the home including general cleaning; as aforementioned the family does have a cleaning crew that comes 1x/week to do the deep cleaning but the candidate to hire should be available to do deep cleaning as will when/if needed as the need arises
  • Laundry

  • Communicating with household vendors, dog walker, and dry cleaners
  • School pickups/drop offs if needed
  • Dog sitting when the family is traveling
  • Some childcare and support
  • Assisting with setting an informal/formal breakfast/dinner table
  • Answering door and greeting guests
  • Changing light bulbs or have the sensitivity to notice when something in the home needs repair and maintenance
  • Bonus: Experience with putting together floral arrangements

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work later 1 night/week when the parents go out

  • There is a work car available, but candidate must also have own reliable vehicle for personal use
  • Flexibility to travel with the family (for example: the East Coast, Europe, etc.)
  • Can speak, read, and write in English

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly rate is dependent upon experience, qualifications and meeting the role expectations
  • 2 weeks paid vacation after 9 months successful employment with at least 2 months notice and preferably taken while family is traveling
  • 5 sick days after 90 days of successful employment
  • Health insurance after 90 days of successful employment
  • There may be some holidays off, but the candidate to hire should be flexible to work a holiday if the need arises and/or is traveling with the family during that time.
  • A guest house to reside in (detached on the back of the property and includes a bedroom/bathroom/kitchenette; and please note the guest house is just for the housekeeper, not additional family members or pets)
  • The family is willing to relocate a candidate for this role
  • IRA retirement account the family will co-fund with the candidate after 1-year of successful employment
