Overview

A professional family with a country home in Bedford, NY is looking for a full-time hands-on facility manager/landscaper. The home is 9,000 sq.ft and sits on 9-acres of land which includes a brook with waterfall and a retention pond. The area around the home is manicured with gardens, while the remainder of the land remains wild. It is an 100 year old home that has been meticulously cared for and the expectation is to continue with the highest level of care and attention to detail for the home and grounds. This role works closely with the owner and on-site house manager. The family uses this home approximately 8 weeks out of the year but is looking to have it maintained year round.

Responsibilities

The role is 60% landscape and 40% facility manager:

  • Maintaining the grounds of the estate to the level required by the principal
  • Coordinating and assisting vendors
  • Regularly check property to identify issues with property structure, hardware, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical failure or breakdowns
  • Perform minor repairs on home, equipment, or appliances
  • Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs
  • Provide support and guidance on maintaining equipment
  • Create and update maintenance manuals and schedules 
  • Provide quality control in all aspects of the property
  • Provide regular updates to the principal 
  • Work closely with house manager

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers license and clean driving record
  • Minimum of five to ten years relevant work experience
  • Interest in vegetable gardens

 

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card or EAC 
  • Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving and forsight.
  • Self-starter
  • Attention to detail and efficient communication 

Salary and Benefits

$150,000 plus benefits
