A busy family on the Upper East Side of NYC is looking for a part-time driver/family assistant. The hours are Monday through Friday 2:30- 7:30pm, with one later evening each week as well as a few overnights during the year. The family has 3 children; a 13-year-old girl who is self sufficient, a 10-year-old boy who has special needs and is the main focus of the role, and an 8-year-old son who will need some care, but less frequently. The ability to drive is a must as the 10-year-old attends school in the Financial District and a large part of the role is bringing him home from school and to after school activities. The family will provide a car to use for pick-ups and carpools. The Dad works out of the house and Mom works from home. Mom and Dad are both around most afternoons to assist with carpools and childcare.
The family prefers someone who can work September through mid-June as they go away for the Summer and do not require help. However, if the person was an excellent fit they would offer them two days, one overnight, on Long Island over the Summer months.
They do not require anyone to travel with them on family vacations throughout the year but the parents do go away periodically (typically 3 nights, 2 times per year, and hopefully one week away alone). This would require the nanny to stay over. There is no housekeeping required other than picking up after the kids- they are asked to help but need direction- and kitchen clean-up after dinner. The Mom preps most meals or will have something ready to heat up, but occasionally you will need to make a simple meal, spaghetti or Mac cheese, for the children. The family prefers no screens until Friday afternoon, though movies when mom and dad are out or on a rainy day are fine.
$40/Hr plus some benefits and PTO
