Overview

A warm, busy family based in Manhasset, Long Island, seeks a live-in nanny to provide seamless support on a rotational week on/off schedule.   

Responsibilities

The nanny will be responsible for the care of 2-year old twins and an older sibling, aged 5.  Duties will include:

  • Organizing and participating in age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive and social development
  • Collaborating with, working alongside, and constantly staying in touch with mom, who is actively involved and well-informed on a daily basis
  • Communicating with parents about the children's progress and any concerns that arise
  • Keeping track of the children's day-to-day activities, milestones and progress to inform parents giving them the information needed to adjust the schedule and activities as required
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest research and practices in child development to provide the best possible care for the children
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children to play and learn in, ensuring that their space remains at a high standard of cleanliness
  • Maintaining tidy and organized spaces for the use of the girls and other family members, and doing so in a timely manner
  • Maintaining inventory and ensuring stock rotation of supplies and materials needed for childcare.
  • Light housekeeping during the mornings when the twins are at nursery, to support the full-time housekeeper

Qualifications

No specific qualifications are required, however the following experience and characteristics would be appreciated:

  • Childcare responsibilities that have included implementing gentle boundaries and baby-led weaning
  • Working as part of a domestic team in a private home
  • A caring and nurturing personality, and a love for children

Requirements

Candidates will need to be flexible and happy to work as part of a team to support Mum and the family wherever needed.  Ideally, candidates should be:

  • Native Spanish-speakers (the family speak Spanish within the home)
  • Competent speaking English
  • Confident drivers
  • Confident cooks, happy to prepare food for the children
  • Hard working
  • Fit and active, able to manage a large home that includes a gym, pool, home office, multiple staircases and, of course, able to keep up with active and energetic young children
  • Fantastic team players, with a pitch-in mentality and a positive outlook
  • Comfortable working within a structured environment and open to direction, feedback and with working under the guidance of Mum
  • Adaptable and flexible, and able to step up during busier periods (holidays, when extended family are visiting, when the parents are away or the family is travelling, for example)

Salary and Benefits

  • From $110,000 gross pa, DOE
