Overview

A lovely private family on the Upper East Side is seeking a communicative and proactive full-time housekeeper to manage the cleaning and laundry in their 3.5-bedroom duplex. The schedule will be Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 7:30pm. The candidate must be familiar with high-end furnishings, have excellent ironing skills, and be discreet, detail-oriented, and self-directed. No travel is required for the role and the family has a chef who prepares all meals. 

Responsibilities

  • Daily maintenance cleaning
  • Deep cleaning on a self-directed schedule
  • Maintenance of special surfaces (mahogany floors, marble counters, e.g.)
  • Laundry for two parents and two teenagers
  • Meticulous ironing of collared shirts and other specialized items
  • Reporting household needs to the principal (dead light bulb, dry goods inventory, e.g.)
  • Cleaning the kitchen and clearing the table following the chef-prepared dinner each evening when principals are in residence

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented, museum-quality cleaning
  • Excellent ironing skills
  • Proactive, with an ownership mentality
  • Strong and clear communication
  • Willingness to learn 
  • Ability to take and apply feedback to carry out the principals' preferences
  • Openness to occasionally walk the small dog for 5 minutes per day if a principal isn't home

Requirements

  • Comfort with a small dog in the home
  • Legal to work in the US
  • Familiarity with luxury fabrics and furnishings
  • Experience in a high-end environment
  • Excellent references
