Seeking an experienced, discreet, and friendly head housekeeper for a family of 6 moving to the UES. The role will start training in Aspen at the end of March, where you will arrive a couple of days before the family to set up the home and then spend 2 weeks with them there before returning to New York. Once back in New York, there will be a relatively easy Monday through Friday schedule, servicing their apartment and keeping on top of lightweight cleaning (the family will be visiting occasionally). Flexibility is essential for this role, as the family regularly frequents Aspen and would love to have someone on-site when they arrive. However, come mid-August, NYC will be the family's full-time residence. From early July to mid August, the role will again be Aspen-based with the family and a fully set up team of staff and then will continue in NYC with the family now fully in residence.
Initial responsibilities will include general cleaning, dusting, tidying and managing a 4-bedroom apartment, making sure it remains pristine, welcoming and ready for the family to visit at any time. The periods of time spent in Aspen are likely to be more intense and involve longer hours, and will include all general housekeeping, errands, and some provisioning.
By July, the family would like the full team to be in place and so the candidate will be managing several housekeepers and a laundress, and will be expected to liaise with the PA, the principals and any on-site vendors and contractors. From August, the family are hoping to move into their new residence which is around 15,000 sq ft and is 6 storeys. The head housekeeper will be happy to help with the initial move and set up and must have prior experience with fine furnishings and artwork, and with keeping the home organised and running smoothly.
The ideal candidate has plenty of prior experience in a similar role, is friendly, an effective communicator and has a real 'can-do' attitude. The family are keen to build a supportive, integrated team around them and will be relying on the head housekeeper to encourage a positive, 'pitch-in' and service-orientated environment. Bearing in mind the size of the new home and the number of storeys, all staff should be active and fit, and able to move up and down the flights of stairs comfortably. Expect to be scheduling and training staff to ensure standards remain high and procedures are adhered to. All staff must be happy working around a busy family who are always on the go, and be comfortable with dogs, as they have two very sweet pups! A competitive salary is on offer (from $45/hr - $55/hr depending on experience), as are benefits, and all flights, accommodation and food will be provided while in Aspen. A driver's license is preferred and Spanish-speaking is a bonus!
If you are interested in the role, are COVID-vaccinated, and are able to travel regularly to Aspen, please apply to ZI172.
