A busy couple recently purchased a home in Bedford, NY and are seeking a full-time property manager for the estate. The candidate would be responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of the 20-acre property, which includes a 12,000 square-foot main house, a guest house, and other facilities. The family split their time between their Manhattan home and Bedford home. You must live locally to the Bedford area, but also able to assist in Manhattan when needed. The role will be mostly Monday through Friday, around 8am - 6pm, but you will also be on call for any emergencies that come up. Some weekend hours will be expected though the family prefer not to have anyone working in the home while they are there.
Responsibilities will include: spearheading all daily operations of the estate, acting as point person for principals by providing updates on household activity, scheduled maintenance, staff etc., coordinating with vendors and contractors, maintaining consistency of standards, supervising contract work and reviewing invoices, supervising and updating maintenance schedules for household vendors like landscapers, HVAC, electrician, plumbing, etc., working alongside the housekeepers and landscapers in the home, and maintaining good working relationships with household staff and contractors. You must have an established network of contractors and vendors to utilize on the properties.
This couple is looking for a property manager who is extremely hands-on, is willing to join their team long-term and grow with them as they embark on making this new home exactly what they want it to be. The couple also have plans to purchase another home upstate, so the role has room for growth and additional responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be presentable, personable, and will understand that they are representing the family when communicating with contractors and vendors. You must be willing and able to jump in as needed, with small repair issues as well as noticing large issues and getting them taken care of quickly and efficiently.
