A family is in need of a live-in or live-out caretaker, on Shelter Island (Long Island area) in New York. The caretaker will assist in the care of all assets belonging to the principal. It is critical the caretaker understands the lifestyle goals of the principal to ensure his enjoyment of the assets are maximized and if time doesn’t permit, needs are prioritized. The staff’s primary goal is present to the principal everything in a “use ready” condition. The caretaker will be in nearly constant communication with the estate manager as routines are established.
Duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring properties for unusual or suspicious changes, on call emergency preparedness for weather and/or national crisis, evening and morning rounds to properties, furniture receiving, set-up, and placement, supporting housekeeping team with stocking and inventory, pool, spa, and landscaping observations to ensure use ready, assisting the housekeeping staff by helping to organize moving heavy items, ensuring buildings are locked and unlocked in anticipatory fashion, create systems, observing CCTV Systems and monitor remotely, airing bikes and ensuring they are road ready with seasonal helpers, cleaning outdoor areas such as decks and patios – make ready with seasonal employees, set up outdoor areas with cushions, beverages and such as needed with seasonal employees, let contractors in and out of principal’s properties and observe, track time, petty cash, & credit card charges, and seasonal tasks such as coordinating leaf blowing etc., coordinate lawn care and snow removal programs.
Key personal characteristics should include having a calm and focused disposition with self-starting tendencies, willingness to be physically involved with all aspects, being an efficient and direct communicator with the use of texting and photos, and having a relaxed personality, principal does not like feeling rushed.
